Ouranoupoli

Ouranoupolis is a small town located at the third end of the Halkidiki peninsula. The surrounding area is very naturally beautiful and touristy, but Ouranoupolis is famous as a port town where ferries depart to Mount Athos.
From the port of Ouranoupolis, there are daily ferry services all year round that carry pilgrims to Daphni, the main port of Mount Athos, and to the small port of the monastery. Near the port there is also an office that issues pilgrimage permits for Mount Athos. In summer, there are excursion boats to Mount Athos and the small island of Drenia with its beautiful crystal beaches. The long, sandy beach of Ouranoupolis is lined with hotels and restaurants.
